This apple fritter bread just takes this to a whole new level and we are officially hooked. The best thing is that it only takes about 10 minutes to throw together then you wake and bake. <br /><br /><img title="frenchtoast1.jpg" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-JCvsOCzwWOU/UjpiExJx66I/AAAAAAAAHm4/RPgSF-XivOg/frenchtoast1.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Frenchtoast1" width="450" height="300" border="0" /> <br /><br />Apple Fritter Overnight French Toast <br /><br />1 loaf Archer Farms Apple Fritter bread (found by the produce)<br />1 cup packed brown sugar<br />1/2 cup (1 stick) butter<br />2 tbsp corn syrup<br />1 cup milk<br />1 cup vanilla creamer (or half & half)<br />2 tsp cinnamon<br />8 eggs<br /><br /><img title="frenchtoast2.jpg" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-oImL34kRa8o/UjpiFniQR4I/AAAAAAAAHnA/ORCf8eAlvAc/frenchtoast2.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Frenchtoast2" width="450" height="300" border="0" /><br /><br />melt the butter, corn syrup and brown sugar on medium high heat until it is liquid and begins to boil<br /><br /> <br /><br />pour the syrup mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 pan and layer bread, kind of laying it down and pushing it into the syrup<br /><br /><img title="frenchtoast3.jpg" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-DoXvEuO790A/UjpiGtjPPCI/AAAAAAAAHnI/c_MMBeWUBy8/frenchtoast3.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Frenchtoast3" width="300" height="450" border="0" /><br /><br />mix the eggs, milk, creamer, and cinnamon together in a bowl and pour over the layered bread <br /><img title="frenchtoast4.jpg" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-AMU74SsA0_I/UjpiHrf87dI/AAAAAAAAHnQ/xuNf0A96LQc/frenchtoast4.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Frenchtoast4" width="450" height="300" border="0" /><br /><br />NOW, cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight<br /><br /><img title="frenchtoast5.jpg" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-zPIjqHLt7yU/UjpiInOoVfI/AAAAAAAAHnY/rF-3TCqsRss/frenchtoast5.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Frenchtoast5" width="450" height="300" border="0" /><br /><br /><br />preheat oven to 325 degrees, bake covered french toast for 35 minutes; then uncover and bake for 10 minutes at 375<br /><br />there is no need for syrup - can you see it there at the bottom? it's amazing!<br /><br />this turns out somewhat like a bread pudding more than french toast but it is absolutely wonderful. try not to get addicted like we have. </p>Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-5222325490842902292012-12-28T23:35:00.001-06:002012-12-29T00:40:18.293-06:00merry and bright<p>This has by far been the best Christmas ever. I think we have a certain little two year old to thank for that. She is such a blessing! <img title="xmas_family2.jpg" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-EQHuCYFCx6c/UN6PO4jTFgI/AAAAAAAAHeo/Iamtp13gBak/xmas_family2.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Xmas family2" width="400" height="267" border="0" /></p>
<p>There was Cookies and Milk with Santa - minus the pic with Santa. She would NOT go anywhere near him. <img title="IMG_9010.JPG" src="marsedit://pending/B6094BC1-F284-4DFD-BA0C-5AE1B6865456/" alt="IMG 9010" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>She loved all of the games though. </p>

<p>There have been lots of days staying in pajamas and embracing the bed head. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0086.jpg" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcaMLJNOe32h8EJlmDLzWBoW6-INaMNIJyYY084V-UOcSukjTgwkxBrKXdR33K0nbFySbxo7vClO3QIk80Z9YALqZsmNc2GGvjYEJsPiysov3k7E-oYAwNBT-Q7uZxBVgJkR4nfm3u2VE/?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0086" width="266" height="400" border="0" /></p>

<p>There was a trip to the Enchanted Forest. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0138.JPG" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-wzU6JnYUk3I/UN6PXBllJEI/AAAAAAAAHfY/sMKTuhMMKAU/IMG_0138.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0138" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>

<p>There were some theme-decorated trees and a gingerbread "house" competition. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0141.jpg" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-jMSKCgc6r8k/UN6PbqDQf_I/AAAAAAAAHfw/ZRjXYCjfFnA/IMG_0141.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0141" width="266" height="400" border="0" /></p>

<p>There was some crafty time. We made a Santa face with cotton balls and a Christmas tree. She sang "Oh, Christmas tree" over and over again. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0271.JPG" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-fJrsJTEWD70/UN6Pfb7zfsI/AAAAAAAAHgI/3msBhYVcYzQ/IMG_0271.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0271" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>

<p>There was a fun and chilly trip to Zoo Lights.</p>
<p><img title="IMG_0296.jpg" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-qEhsXGqrRTo/UN6PhUoQNkI/AAAAAAAAHgY/XYvyhLMsyeE/IMG_0296.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0296" width="266" height="400" border="0" /></p>
<p>Still no luck with Santa pictures - but at least she talked to him.</p>
<p><img title="IMG_0312.JPG" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-9Oj7H-CxgoQ/UN6PkJ7fTSI/AAAAAAAAHgo/MhA61Dnu2bs/IMG_0312.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0312" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>

<p>There was a night of our own gingerbread house decorating. It was a lot of fun and will definitely be a yearly tradition from now on. Can you guess which house is Chloe's?</p>
<p><img title="IMG_0409.JPG" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX8KH7ZhEOUMEVJqaYgQn3kNmZbmc1Od3acMZjdkz7IdM8bAzUpppjUhWbAZZ2gFSxvYDPPuZ3x-UMue1feCRykEv8ETd8PERA5NSjO6pYu0btBOx0HETvjUAX53H1Zfi3qVzU1igb7gA/?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0409" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>There was Christmas Eve baking during nap time. Just me alone in the kitchen with the music and whirring of Bessie. It has been a long time since I have been able to do that and I really loved it. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0427.JPG" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-jqNDUnrUtMM/UN6PsZbNOqI/AAAAAAAAHhY/DhPHXOWoYCk/IMG_0427.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0427" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>

<p>Then, I had a sweet little elf come help me make the peppermint cream cheese frosting. Yum!</p>
<p><img title="IMG_0452.JPG" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-cbyYTNLlb48/UN6P0WhtxmI/AAAAAAAAHhw/knSVkT56CH0/IMG_0452.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0452" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>She may have gotten her hand stuck when sneaking another sample. Don't worry it wasn't spinning. :)</p>
<p><img title="IMG_0457.JPG" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuMrNJSyG9M0K6mwz9gfy7gNYHLsyYOFSFxuss3TxchhHnC05FIWC53cC2e11kgAUaYfGAWie2Bvw6bia8sgyMXld_ywx4_ADd6Tf0tRny30pFBg8qtbnX62w-fc3HSevOcnqLmbnqQbk/?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0457" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>She pulled these letters off the fridge and threw them on the counter. The v and second e were turned over. I was pretty shocked when i turned them over to find she had gotten the letters to spell eve on the biggest eve of the year! And they are red and green. Crazy coincidence. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0459.JPG" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihWflnIF4eXEYXCXrnktp1gYbywjKV-J-7L03rMikp7BiAyvFS0i0YS4MQx_zehT_svBixnd4XuucWg3SOjAVdOklR9bEHyAahHrdVTLfMLa4HKcMMRC9FgNhEzGeoZ94ao8ttUa2QAIM/?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0459" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>We enjoyed a fun spread of finger foods and maybe some scallops because we love them so much! </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0463.JPG" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-U7Zxh906rRA/UN6P-CYiclI/AAAAAAAAHiQ/PjvUYz82KjQ/IMG_0463.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0463" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>We ate off fancy plates and used the fancy glasses while watching Elf in the living room. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0470.JPG" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-lgXMkYlnBxs/UN6QBKeWXfI/AAAAAAAAHiY/CY_5oOsS8_U/IMG_0470.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0470" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>Then it was time for family presents! Probably Chloe's favorite part. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0471.jpg" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-fikjujhJY5s/UN6QEliST3I/AAAAAAAAHio/vyZdVmc0rws/IMG_0471.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0471" width="266" height="400" border="0" /></p>
<p>Oh, and I can't forget Jacob's favorite - Red Velvet Cake with Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosting. So good!</p>
<p><img title="IMG_0484.jpg" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOErEbEK9VCHgMPIr_L9P8fFxu1LJSRKIl77ZyHYY92a4wOrqHz_tYOmsR-V-pncKMGugnLIF3HsZ9kWOO7Yz5QKhLOCHL5fkfHWwRunAIVDAzfUdH7zHC2-YYfsFgAvs_MIgg8kUAnXU/?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0484" width="266" height="400" border="0" /></p>
<p>This was our first "real" Christmas morning with Chloe. Last year, we were out of town and she was still too young to really know what was going on. *Yes, her pajamas are on inside out. She likes to strip in the night!*</p>
<p><img title="IMG_0489.JPG" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-nu1sy3_ozC0/UN6QHK2T1RI/AAAAAAAAHi4/M5WnEqbXzKw/IMG_0489.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0489" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>The baby and bed were the big hit. She hasn't stopped playing with them. Best $13 I have ever spent. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0497.jpg" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-O-9xPaDlJ3I/UN6QIThgHdI/AAAAAAAAHjA/p9tRxmcPdpI/IMG_0497.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0497" width="266" height="400" border="0" /></p>

<p>She wanted nothing to do with the tricycle. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0515.jpg" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-yTmid-EyQtI/UN6QL2B0eQI/AAAAAAAAHjQ/M9fz0gJHtMQ/IMG_0515.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0515" width="266" height="400" border="0" /></p>
<p>Hamlet wasn't sure about all of the new stuff. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0517.JPG" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-grP6GA8QN3Y/UN6QOVEQMLI/AAAAAAAAHjY/guisg7e30K8/IMG_0517.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0517" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>Christmas morning breakfast was Overnight Egg Nog French Toast (so easy and good!) on fancy plates and orange juice in fancy glasses. These were my families when we were younger. It felt good to pull in some old things to celebrate and remember my family. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_0520.JPG" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-BN39HCutHWU/UN6QQ2aJSFI/AAAAAAAAHjo/SCvrBER2iio/IMG_0520.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0520" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p><img title="IMG_0518.JPG" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-mTIDJiQjm_c/UN6QPoMxTMI/AAAAAAAAHjg/QgQJoS2ikDA/IMG_0518.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 0518" width="400" height="266" border="0" /></p>
<p>It was a fabulous weekend full of family time. It was really nice to have a low key time at home enjoying one another. We spent the rest of the day with Jacob's family and we are having their family Christmas on New Year's. So, all of the celebrating isn't quite over. Here's to (truly) the most wonderful time of the year!</p>
<p><img title="IMG_8926.jpg" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ZZlqf4imvbE/UN6QTiDaSQI/AAAAAAAAHj4/6yiBG5_J-b0/IMG_8926.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 8926" width="267" height="400" border="0" /></p>Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-39856218768495602172012-06-06T14:13:00.001-05:002012-06-06T14:13:16.198-05:00dinner do's and don'ts<p>Eating at the table with a 17 month old poses quite a challenge most evenings. First, it was pray through the screaming. Then, it was "Don't throw your food." After that we moved on to "Put your food back on your plate" or "You eat it, don't give it to the dog." </p>
<p><img title="dinnertime_delight.jpg" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-HC5K5Ad8wY8/T8-rwo1PDfI/AAAAAAAAHd4/tyxI3bwiplg/dinnertime_delight.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Dinnertime delight" width="400" height="267" border="0" /></p>
<p>But our latest challenge is new and a quick, stern redirection doesn't work AT ALL. We've been in Daycare Food Detox over the past couple of weeks and Chloe doesn't want her tongue to touch anything green right now. How do you handle that?</p>
<p><img title="dinnertime_spinach.jpg" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-yhuOQrZHzLI/T8-rxDgWWzI/AAAAAAAAHeA/QbrvOQ2wNqg/dinnertime_spinach.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Dinnertime spinach" width="400" height="267" border="0" /></p>
<p>What happened? This girl used to gobble up broccoli, scarf down green beans, and even savor spinach! Now, it's all I can do to get her interested in anything other than carbs and carb sprinkled protein. Argh! </p>
<p>But tonight, we had a breakthrough. Eggplant parmesan. Made from what we grew in our backyard. She was begging with her sweet little "Moh" after each bite. She seriously couldn't get enough of it until I broke out the grapes. </p>
<p>Next time, I'll just slip some spinach in between slices of crispy eggplant and she won't even know what hit her.</p>
<p>I'm calling it a win! Beat that Chef Boy R Who with your hidden vegetables. Take that V-ate what! </p>

So, without further delay…..</p>

<p>We are off to the zoo this morning. Do you have any big plans this summer?</p>Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-22216152878912951892012-05-15T16:23:00.000-05:002012-05-15T16:26:41.382-05:00farmergirl wannabeMy computer doesn't like that word…farmergirl. But it's sort of my goal/dream for this summer.<br />
<br />
I remember the summer I was eight years old. My sister and I spent a few weeks at my great-grandmother's farm in South Georgia (Jaw-jah). It was a neat experience and I am glad we have the memories. It was just the two of us, hanging out with my grandfather everyday and doing what we could to "help" my great-grandmother. I remember her most at the big white sink with sideboards looking out into the chicken pin.<br />
<br />
<img alt="Farmergirl 2" border="0" height="449" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZkwTBjynCfgWulwSfo553_WBzZ_W2AMJL2YuzrLUbp4U4qtFr5um_Uy8-krkaFu6MIB79Var-Cs4icjaRdJ5K9TTyi_wV9AqmHxTcWIFU67zHNa5NkW2lYS7ts7o8ipn8FZgoKdmN4iI/?imgmax=800" title="farmergirl_2.jpg" width="300" /><br />
<br />
It seemed like she was eternally working at that sink and in that kitchen. Every day, every meal was a smorgasbord of the best country cooking anyone could hope for. And what did I eat? Biscuits and honey. I couldn't get enough. Yum!<br />
<br />
That summer I saw my great-grandmother, well into her 80's at that point, fling a chicken to kill. I watched her spend all day plucking and prepping that chicken in the back porch off the kitchen.<br />
<br />
My grandfather would take my sister and I out on the tractor. It was blue and white. We would ride perched upon the wheel covers (gasp) and occasionally get to steer.<br />
<br />
I remember sleeping in the squeaky, old iron bed laden with hand-stitched quilts and washing my face in the ancient pedestal sink with a little rubber stopper.<br />
<br />
We traipsed around the farm checking corn, feeding the horses, and picking wild blackberries. Mostly, I remember the blackberries. I didn't like blackberries but I didn't mind picking them.<br />
<br />
That's the kind of summer I want to have. Unglamorous work swirled with a heaping dose of carefree relaxation and homemade food.<br />
<br />
Now, only 3 more days until I get to find a way to channel that mentality in the middle of the city with a 17 month old.<br />
<br />

What are your summer plans?Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-53907069610096974652012-05-13T20:38:00.001-05:002012-05-13T20:46:45.421-05:00shiny shoes and the best card ever<p>How was your Mother's Day? Mine was pretty good. </p>
<p>It started off with me giving Jacob grief about not saying Happy Mother's Day. (I can be a jerk in the morning!) Then, I helped keep the nursery during worship service. Chloe loved clinging to me almost the entire time. It didn't really bother me that much though. An absolutely thought-provoking Bible class followed. </p>
<p>After church Jacob surprised me with some new shiney shoes. They are my first pair and I like 'em. So comfortable. </p>
<p><img title="shiny shoes.jpg" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ooj9xHSo1NE/T7BiCEHJiEI/AAAAAAAAHc0/kRJ-taKvP7Q/shiny%252520shoes.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Shiny shoes" width="449" height="300" border="0" /></p>
<p>We ate lunch with Jacob's family and enjoyed spending the afternoon with them. His mother and grandmother are among the sweetest souls on earth! </p>
<p>After Chloe woke up from her nap, Jacob surprised me with his very own homemade Mother's Day card. He even hand wrote the poem on the inside. </p>
<p><img title="mothersdaypoem.jpg" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-nbpO3vszJRs/T7BiC86nzCI/AAAAAAAAHc8/BuPSnWyqDWc/mothersdaypoem.jpg?imgmax=800" alt="Mothersdaypoem" width="300" height="449" border="0" /></p>
<p>In case you can't read it, it says:</p>
<p>"What a great mom you are Candace.</p>
<p>Chloe and I are lost without you to bond us.</p>
<p>Such a beautiful girl with a sweet spirit.</p>
<p>Chloe told me that, I know she means it. </p>
<p>Sometimes overwhelmed and a little crazy</p>
<p>Normally my fault when I get a little lazy.</p>
<p>Cleaning, teaching and cooking on the oven</p>
<p>All these action show how much you loven.</p>
<p>Chloe and I love you, we know you are the best</p>
<p>Maybe this summer you can get some rest.</p>
<p>Happy Mother's Day, we are stuck to you like glue.</p>
<p>We're ok with that because we love you. "</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Isn't that so stinkin' cute and hilarious? I think it is the best Mother's Day card ever made! I am so blessed to have both Jacob and Chloe and cannot imagine my life without them. I think that is what Mother's day is all about - remembering why being a mother is so important. It's because you are loved and get to give love in return! </p>
<p>These two make me so happy and make me want to love more!</p>

<p>Happy Mother's Day to you!</p>Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-6145361870907178032012-05-01T21:24:00.001-05:002012-05-01T21:27:32.373-05:00dirt<p>this is my new favorite picture.</p>
<p><img title="IMG_6269.JPG" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHLhypclsPwa9QQ7E4P-jqyBCJv_On6q_bFaZoSc5Rc4RA2faApnAQmnZCV_OYxxkuxiz1IbaARkzt4kdGYJ8FLWsefmwGJYapMs_jWopllGZIJKhZ_ZXpNkzFpoea8Px8rlyIKVEcMKI/?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 6269" width="500" height="333" border="0" /></p>
<p>my girl loves dirt. as we planted our garden about a month ago, she was right there with us each step of the way. we let her stay busy putting loose dirt in a small pot and then dumping it back in the large pot. little did we know, we were creating a bad habit. now, we cannot walk by a patch of dirt without Chloe lunging for the soil with both hands ready to be filled. </p>
<p>case in point, we went to the doctor a week or so ago. Chloe was doing really well in the waiting room but soon got restless, so we walked outside. She did great walking up and down the sidewalk chasing me until she saw what lined the flowerbed - mulch. She was a goner after I wouldn't let her dig into her treasured dirt and take a sample to her doctor. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_6222.JPG" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-9mfd_EDRZ18/T6CbjUt-z0I/AAAAAAAAHcg/hz9J_IizDeo/IMG_6222.JPG?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 6222" width="500" height="333" border="0" /></p>
<p>oh, and when we pick her up from "school" - which i call school because it makes me feel better - she has a diaper full of pea gravel that came from the playground. it pours out of her pants when we pick her up and she screams as we rid her of the tiny rocks she has been hoarding. </p>
<p><img title="IMG_6260.JPG" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNOZCQ4eaIoeg1VfI1rMDaSINf3X9n64GdaX5TjhZq3W8kI0li-KBo1lWc_SJlxi1mes4MMN-svhhdwK-uYhibo9BWT_DUew7deBENdALT0keBBokpOKOOQXkn6HM7dPggxV-2FsNlByo/?imgmax=800" alt="IMG 6260" width="500" height="333" border="0" /></p>
<p>dirt. it makes her happy. </p>

<p><img title="tn.jpeg" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-vKSzCFaN3JY/Tzm_yZOU-3I/AAAAAAAAHaw/fO8iN4CUlB0/tn.jpeg?imgmax=800" border="0" alt="Tn" width="480" height="480" /><br />chloe spent most of her day pushing her new stroller around. consignment sales rock - nuff said. <br /><br /><img title="tn.jpeg" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkwo_rAyUqOYl4EUp2KKhGECC1NyPA8-oSws9QRiS9pcG9JedLhQqiHY7IO2xpUarOC-VFzsNk77FbZCvIom0YNzmw0u8Vrw57bIPjV70TmJkPISboVuCN0uLIMbPAKlsCZYerDQgqRBI/?imgmax=800" border="0" alt="Tn" width="480" height="480" /><br />made a Goodwill run and found the number one item on my wish list. how often does that happen? scored this cute dress for a v-day date with my love. it was only $5! woot-woot!<br /> <br /><img title="acts8.jpg" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-j6HHjwnF4T4/Tzm_5aZkSFI/AAAAAAAAHbQ/b54J7MAqoGA/acts8.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" alt="Acts8" width="480" height="480" /></p>
<p>Bible class Sunday, we were in Acts 8. simon the sorcerer has always been made out to be the bad guy. but this time i found him simply ignorant and quickly changed by the spirit once he was shown the truth. and someone made an amazing point about Philip and the eunuch. i'm gonna paraphrase here > Philip was told to go near and wait for the carriage, then the eunuch invited him in to read. Are we at a point in our lives that we can listen when we are called and then be invited into "someone's carriage"? some good meat to chew on. <br /><br /><img title="tn.jpeg" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAxV6lZlKZ2646_JGoDL3a7hrCAzUHOEc1YB6RAi2D5ZEGzhmtTesL6ml0Na6uFhfu7HsD6qmQ2F1nEOaVmMfRSx7iK1Xax0Q32TGaWh0wf3o595cFkK4L5BT6CHVEBTkV8i3D_JPOM-I/?imgmax=800" border="0" alt="Tn" width="480" height="480" /><br />the rest of the day was spent immersed in laundry and shopping the house to springerize our bedroom. hmmm, wishing i could spend a little more time in this pretty bed. <br /><br />have a happy week!</p>Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-48135337696440612742012-02-06T21:32:00.001-06:002012-02-06T21:32:47.205-06:00just another<p>don't pretend like you don't know the lyrics. if you are a child of the 80's - you should know the bang-les well. <br /><br />today was certainly a monday. discombobulated and insane no matter what amount of planning and work was done beforehand. one step forward and two steps back. <br /><br />it wasn't a BAD day - just one of those crazy, hectic, can I get a second to breath? or will I ever stop dropping things? kind of days. <br /><br />and before you go there - no I am not with child. it's just a monday. <br /><br />i am glad my God knows how to calm me and tell me to listen to Him in all of this earthly chaos. i keep reciting to myself the fruit of the spirit song. "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-contro-o-o-ol." <br /><br />i keep asking God, what do you want me to learn from this craziness? to find you? to see you? to show you? in all of this? <br /><br />and then i get a little Junie B. kind of exasperated and find peace in the role God has prepared for me, even on this maniacal monday.<br /><br /><br />chloe was having a monday too. :)<br /><br /><img title="IMG_5584.JPG" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-7l3hk-FrD5U/TzCbWcWKdKI/AAAAAAAAHaE/DQGA5UP2s3U/IMG_5584.JPG?imgmax=800" border="0" alt="IMG 5584" width="600" height="399" /></p>Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-28932813586158941172012-01-26T20:41:00.001-06:002012-01-26T20:41:15.672-06:00inner debate<p>i've been going back and forth between returning to this here ole blog. and the truth of the matter is, i really want to. i do. i miss it. <br /><br />it once served as a release, an outlet for my thoughts. sometimes i would allow the deep thoughts to seep onto the screen you are reading now. and other times, i would fill it with posts on frivolous matters such as my house and cooking - maybe in a effort to allow something out of my head so that i would not burden any readers with the "heavy" stuff! and not to mention, i am a sharer by nature. possibly even an over-sharer in some instances. <br /><br />so, here i am - having not blog for almost the first full year of my child's life. let's face it. i can barely manage being a wife, mom, and teacher. it's no wonder that a silly little blog feel by the wayside. i feel like i've missed so much already. maybe i will recap the end of 2011 soon. maybe i won't. part of my debating my return has hinged on if i should go back and update what has been happening around here or just pick up where we are now. <br /><br />who knows?<br /> <br />all i know is i have lots of thoughts and things i want to share. some serious and some silly. <br /><br />so, dear blog - our friendship may be somewhat strained right now but we are old friends. and everyone knows old friends can just pick up and carry on like no time has passed. i am looking forward to what time we may spend together soon. <br /><br /> and just so you can agree on how cute my kid is now - here is a picture of the little sweetie! surely can't get enough of her!<br /><br /><img title="NewImage.png" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-UOOwMvwEq8A/TyIOiRW2LEI/AAAAAAAAHZU/QXarSn_vkes/NewImage.png?imgmax=800" border="0" alt="NewImage" width="400" height="600" /></p>Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-22163845138316946372011-11-10T21:50:00.002-06:002011-11-10T22:02:56.215-06:00ten on teni thought maybe the best way to get back in the swing of blogging would be to participate in <a href="http://rebekahgough.blogspot.com/p/ten-on-ten-photo-project.html">10 on 10</a> today. even as busy as i have been, it was nice to stop real quick and snap a picture. it was a pretty typical day - probably boring to most other people. but this is how life looks right now.<br />

With the end of school and a baby in the mix, blogging definitely got pushed to the bottom of the list. Heck, even scrubbing the toilet got pushed pretty low on the totem pole. <br /> <br />The good news is….I have scrubbed the toilet….a few times since March. But my return to blogging has more to do with my bad back. I’ve been out of commission for about 4 days now. Lying down when I have the chance and carefully choosing when I pick up my daughter. It has not been fun. It’s life though. <br /> <br />Oh, and our dryer went out and it is raining today. So if it can’t air dry in the hallway – it is not getting washed right now. Wah-wah, I know. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-UO1csgF5Wak/Tgoa9ugPW8I/AAAAAAAAHUA/we1Pm2xjwiQ/s1600-h/092-1%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="092-1" border="0" alt="092-1" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-oCZdKJMmZUQ/Tgoa-MHwLGI/AAAAAAAAHUE/JbwArExGO1g/092-1_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="504" height="338" /></a> <br /> <br />BUT on the flipside, my summer has been wonderful! Lots of fun stuff and good times with great people. We’ve also been very busy around the house. <br /> <br />Some things that I will be posting about soon:</p> <p>Our chicken coop <br />We’ve built a deck <br />Thrifting finds <br />Working on an Etsy shop <br />and one precious little girl <br /> <br />Speaking of, I soaking up every minute I can with this blue-eyed beauty. </p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOGvFBHPXRsUuzwgtqZtHjiQa1Ucw5jn4JnI-z0lPm-qjU5uL0RwcWhliieIMPkeHz3LBJlDKNnrS-ZxSmTB0Ih0XRC1IhFLWvzywQp-yoN0X-fDmH9CMUvxG-8tApFmzRJLPrIIcfYA8/s1600-h/020-1%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="020-1" border="0" alt="020-1" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRn2UMoyrubxHWFsHExN5Nfts8cqnwMez74dwSoeILAM-KcjHaJNPetXeTdjft6B_oxdPAp0SHsL8lQK_2qItsPha1NnPmofynfieRdtCyRfxVaemfdDakT14ejvN303odqZlNi4kcZIw/?imgmax=800" width="285" height="425" /></a> <br /> <br />She just melts my heart. </p> Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-77533539091339017352011-03-20T08:04:00.000-05:002011-03-20T08:04:00.778-05:00Spring Sunday<p><font size="3"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TYV9DOdhbTI/AAAAAAAAHTQ/rYW4_4PSMtk/s1600-h/008%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="008" border="0" alt="008" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TYV9DoV_vhI/AAAAAAAAHTU/9SOjkwnjP3I/008_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="504" height="337" /></a> <br /> <br />"For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to </font><font size="3">spring</font><font size="3"> forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness <br />and praise to </font><font size="3">spring</font><font size="3"> forth before all the nations."  Isaiah 61:11</font></p> Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-87756463667740123872011-03-18T07:30:00.000-05:002011-03-18T07:30:01.829-05:00friday finds<p>wow. I love that it worked out that way. my first few days back at work were good. I keep telling everyone it was like riding a bike. it was nice to go back for those three days and just get reacquainted with my students and get everything back in order.  <br /> <br />I enjoy my students and I enjoy being in my classroom. teaching is a challenge but it is a fun and very rewarding challenge. I so glad this is what I can do with my life and talents.  <br /> <br /><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TX9zazBLV5I/AAAAAAAAHP4/oZG0HmNZ2aE/s1600-h/458-1%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="458-1" border="0" alt="458-1" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TX9zbZgmwkI/AAAAAAAAHP8/Kzd-FTyPUWU/458-1_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="337" height="504" /></a> <br />I will be glad when the weather is warm enough that kids do not have to wear jackets. our school is an open campus so jackets come off and on at least three times a day. they had to clean up this area just after I took this picture. they will tell you their jacket should be <em>on a hook</em>. pet peeve maybe, but I view it as teaching them to be responsible and respect their property as well as thinking of safety. mine and theirs. ha! <br /><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TX9zb-Y4zcI/AAAAAAAAHQA/JfgVyC3_pHM/s1600-h/459-1%5B3%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="459-1" border="0" alt="459-1" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TX9zcVT0U0I/AAAAAAAAHQE/AZkaMgfbqpg/459-1_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="337" height="504" /></a> <br />the morning message – ask my principal, I am a little neurotic about this. it is usually a lot longer than this and the kids complete it. they haven’t done it since I have been gone. this was the first time since December for them to try it. it’s not pretty – they’ve regressed some. we will get back on track. they LOVE doing the morning message and our morning meeting. <br /><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TX9zchDhGvI/AAAAAAAAHQI/LYYut4YAa-c/s1600-h/460-1%5B3%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="460-1" border="0" alt="460-1" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TX9zdCggTJI/AAAAAAAAHQM/J3F2xrj73zg/460-1_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="504" height="337" /></a>  <br />midday shoe change – sometimes I hate doing this in front of my kids because the first time I did it this year one little girl shook her head and said, “all them shoes.” a sharp stabbing reminder at how blessed I am. and just fyi – I only change into my crocs in my classroom, I travel around school in my ‘cute’ shoes – you know, because I have to pretend to be professional and all. <br /> <br />today, I will spend a good portion of this spring break preparing lesson plans and activities for the rest of the school year. I will not take time away from my family to do it in the evenings. I am excited to be back but it will be a whole new set of challenges to balance home and work. any and all suggestions are welcome. :)</p> Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-74590706583871007612011-03-08T11:20:00.001-06:002011-03-08T11:20:02.391-06:00this face<p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TXZlPsBOgBI/AAAAAAAAHO0/xf6HsAIm_P4/s1600-h/067-1%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="067-1" border="0" alt="067-1" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TXZlQEdWxPI/AAAAAAAAHO4/UjDN_n2nvKM/067-1_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="504" height="337" /></a></p> I am going to miss it tomorrow when I go back to work. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /><a href="http://http://www.iheartfaces.com/2011/03/best-photo-february/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Iheartfaces+%28I+Heart+Faces+-+Weekly+Photo+Challenges+%26+Tutorials%29"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="I-Heart-Faces-button" border="0" alt="I-Heart-Faces-button" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TXZlQYe1DjI/AAAAAAAAHO8/MhBzHx7GgHg/I-Heart-Faces-button%5B4%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="145" height="145" /></a> Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-4508622239369513992011-03-07T08:00:00.003-06:002011-03-07T08:05:34.727-06:00birthday happysyesterday was the big day. thrity-schmirty. so far, so good. <br />

I realized over the weekend that it is anger and anxiety, mostly, that I am struggling with. I’m not sure if it stems from being subconsciously stressed or lack of stimulation or just knowing I will never have control. I <em>know</em> I will never have control but it is still a rough wrestle of the mind. <br /> <br />whatever it is, it’s eating away at me. I just feel so robbed and defeated by it. I have absolutely no reason to be angry but little things have set me off so very easily the past few days. I will suddenly catch myself getting upset over the smallest of inconveniences and then quickly remind myself how easy I actually have it. and then I get upset and angry at myself for getting upset over the small thing. argh! <br /> <br />I stop, often in mid-activity, and just say “what’s wrong with you?” I know I have every reason to be thankful and grateful and <em>I am</em>. I know I have it good, better than good even. It’s just those moments that catch me off guard and take over.   <br /> <br />it’s silly. it’s ridiculous. and I’m tired of it. <br /> <br />I know what it will take to ‘fix’ this problem. getting back to the basics and drawing closer to God. giving it to Him. <br /> <br />and not getting angry in the process when it still doesn’t go my way.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI4FiG7D9geuS1Pd5xfsH0G67RZPypptJzza-PilQmgXf63AqVXzyoC7JLSdmFUwISn98HTqugyo-pe5A2fhaJsTBketpeijquWSfzdr2qyZZmVTJE0NUUJ5Zwl_yxYJYzwaWy8mDYDPM/s1600-h/DSCN0447%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCN0447" border="0" alt="DSCN0447" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TW097fvVzHI/AAAAAAAAHNI/AgJ21p54tec/DSCN0447_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="379" height="504" /></a></p> Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413814490241577375.post-21355345282448251102011-02-25T17:07:00.001-06:002011-02-25T17:07:22.834-06:00friday finds<p>I started this post last week ~ but as I’ve said before, it was a rough week. I only called twice. <br /> <br />jacob got home early and we decided to have a day date. it was unexpected and very nice. we held hands. and pop-kissed in public. <br /> <br />gag if you want. <br /> <br />it was a good day. and now we are settling back into our regular routine. <br /> <br /> <br /><a href="http://http://andersonfamilycrew.blogspot.com/2011/02/embrace-camera-feb-24th.html"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="e_t_c" border="0" alt="e_t_c" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_-Xq856Jiq_g/TWbrSe1XGkI/AAAAAAAAHLk/nMGG4D7ywW0/e_t_c%5B4%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="229" height="179" /></a></p> Candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13707950794241128217noreply@blogger.com4
